| Iv'e got GG AT2's on my disco and they are easily as good as the BFG's. They don't seem to wear at all. They are pretty quiet on the road and I will hapilly do greenlanes all day long on them. I am very impressed with them after 9000 trouble free miles. | |

| Main difference between BFG and GG ATs is that the GGs have a 2 ply wall and the BFGs have a 3 ply wall, so are more resistant to damage from sharp edges etc... | |

| And the GG's are a more open tread pattern. they self clean better in my opinion. | |

| Ran GG AT2s on my previous D3 (had the first set in D3 sizes to land in the UK) and the sidewalls are as soft as baby pooh. They're a good sand tyre and very sticky on rock, but having ripped the sidewalls out of 3 in a matter of weeks I ditched them. I didn't find them to be that great at self clearing either. Land Rover are dropping the GG range and speccing the Continental ContiCrossContact AT (Continental own General Tyres) on the Defender from 2011MY build (July). After a lot of testing it has come out very well for noise, longevity, mud performance and fuel use. Can't think why I might be looking at the spec of 2011MY Defenders when my D3 is coming up to 2 years old in July..... | |

| You must do some pretty intense driving then cos for green lanes etc I have had no problem with mine. Even the flints on Salisbury plain have not caused an issue. I have also got a set of special tracks that I use for deeper more wet mud. I have been green lane and off road driving for 20+ years now and have pretty much used most tyres available (both my own and others mota's) and I cannot fail to be impressed with the GG's (for the money). | |

| Oh and a good few years ago I worked in the tyre fitting game, fitting tyres to MODPLOD 90's and 110's. Now them guys know how to wreck tyres! | |

| I suspect 3t of D3 on a 60 profile tyre is part of the problem Had them on my old L200 and they were ok but they're shocking for punctures and sidewall damage on D3s. I know the sidewall layup had to be changed for the D3 because the only profile available was 255/60/18, which is NOT a lot of sidewall for a tyre of that type. I'm not alone in the Disco3 community in having this problem - people have shredded them in locations from Tewkesbury to Tunisia. | |

| That puts a whole new light on it, What idiot decided to put 60 profile tyres on an offroad vehicle? fine on road but like you say bugger all side wall for offroad. Thankfully mine are 255/70/16's and are both wide and tall. | |

| Yup, Wrangler MTRs. Awesome tyre at the price of 25mpg Giving serious consideration to changing them to Scorpion ATRs to get back to the 30mpg+ I was doing before I put the MTRs on. Working on 2800 miles round trip, that would save me £100 at current fuel prices | |

| Yeah, but as I do 2500 miles a month, I can save £1000 a year just by changing tyres! | |
