Convoy for Heroes 23/24 April 2011

I think the H4H rally gang have all been coralled altogether into the Convoy naughty corner

I've been informed that the Convoy for Heroes is now full (360 vehicles accepted for the Convoy). The limit is set by Gaydon and the limits of the actual 'circuit'

But great news for those who have booked - you will be part of the new World Record (old record circa 260) And of course - great news for H4H as well.

If anyone does want to go and hasn't booked Adam Brunskill has tickets going spare as he can't make it.

I've just had a new green H4H Rally pass sent through from the convoy people. Malcolm and I shall be camping friday and saturday nights, can't wait for a road trip from up here in the north!!

Weather is lookin' good as well. Ace. Quite (not 'quiet'!) an H4H 4x4 European Rally gathering.

And Class of 2010 - you are obliged to inform the Class of 2011 attending that Tim & I are the most pleasant, helpful, truthful, and non-devious rally organisers you have ever met.

But say nothing re the route etc.

2010 crews will be limited to a thimble-full of alcohol - every other hour! In case of loose talk

MORE BEER = MORE INFO

Mrs Richie has just called me. She stresses that Richie will be an 'alcohol free zone' this w/e; seemingly because of his medication. Thus an avenue if 'information tapping' appears to have been cut. Shame eh!

Well It was good to meet everyone, Im not sure did we break the world record or not or were there too many gaps towards the end of the convoy?

Time (or, in particular, Guinness WR) will tell if the 380 Land Rovers taking part have broken the World Record; but whatever - it was a great gathering for H4H and a great gathering of 2010 & 2011 H4H 4x4 European Rally crews. We had 24 vehicles taking part in the Convoy (plus a few more attending that, as non-LRs couldn't take part!). A brilliant w/e all round - and great to see those from 2010 and meet those from 2011.

Our thanks to the Barkers, Burts, Oxfords etc for the ace BBQ - and to all the crews for making a memorable w/e.

Also, well done to the Convoy for Heroes organisers - not an easy venture.

Just got home. What great weekend seeing some of the old faces again and meeting some of the new. Don't worry, not many of the secret changes for 2011 were given away, but there were some huge revelations, not least of which was Richie actually took some beer home.

Now, was that because he was being restrained and stayed off it, or was that because the Class of 2011 kept him well supplied in exchange for yet more inside info .... I'll let you all ponder those thoughts for a while, before I reveal the real reason.

Re the Guinness World Record, we won't get an official ruling for a few weeks, and there's no specific timescale. Rest assured when we hear about it we'll be letting you all know".

Just added some figures up - 24 cars from our 'cell' of the Rally gang (inc associated vehicles eg Toby's 101) took part in the Convoy, 3 Jap cars were left to admire the Heritage Centre car park. Amazingly over the w/e 63 people from the Help for Heroes 4x4 Rally (2010 & 2011) turned up. That's quite (again confirmed not 'quiet'!) an attendance!
