Convoy for Heroes 23/24 April 2011

We know that a few of you are interested in attending the Convoy for Heroes event (www.convoy4heroes.org.uk) over the Easter weekend.

As a result, we have contacted the Convoy organisers and requested 'space' for the Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally. Our thoughts are this could be used as an occasion for a Reunion of the Class of 2010 and a Get to Know event for the Class of 2011.

We will send a group email to all the 2010 and 2011 entrants once we've heard back from the Convoy organisers and we know how we're going to proceed with the arrangements

Please note: Those from 2010 will not be allowed to consume alcohol (not that any of you drink at all!) in case 'loose words' give away too many secrets to the gang of 2011

On a serious note - the Convoy is a wonderful idea and will be great for the charity.

Great stuff, look forward to the waggling tongues - might learn something ......... oh yea, we were there last year !!!!

Poss meet at the British Indoor 4x4 Show at Stafford?

Some of you H4H 4x4 Rally entrants from 2010 and 2011 will already be aware of Convoy 4 Heroes - www.convoy4heroes.org.uk. The event will be held over the Easter Bank Holiday weekend 23/24 April 2011. It is unrelated to the H4H 4x4 European Rally other than the cause it supports – Help for Heroes.
As H4H 4x4 Rally organisers, we feel this would be a wonderful opportunity to take part in a World Record attempt as well as displaying our support for the charity – in addition we are able to use the occasion for a Reunion of the Class of 2010 and Get to Know re the Class of 2011.
We have been in contact with the Convoy 4 Heroes organisers – the good news is that they welcome our attendance.
However, they still need to fine tune some arrangements inc camping fees. Once those are finalised the Convoy organisers will let me know; and we can book.
We can attend as a ‘club’. Our proposal is that once we have the green light re costs and their application forms, you (as H4H 4x4 Rally entrants) will make you own application and payment direct to Convoy 4 Heroes; with the form clearly marked ‘H4H 4x4 European Rally’.
So – we are in – and watch this space.

Will my L200 count in the convoy record attempt

Looks like we're also going to try and get an L200 convoy/attendance at the event too.

Sounds like an excuse for a sponsored event... the Stealth Toyota!! I'm sure we can scrounge up some old panels somewhere!!!

Which nights is everyone camping for ??

Nick - I'm assuming the majority of the overnighters will be there for the Sat night; hence we'll use that for the BBQ evening/Reunion/Get To Know gathering.

Re us - we'll arr Sat Morn and dep after the Convoy on Sun afternoon/evening.

OK, not sure how many we'll go for. We usually go over to Irleand for Easter, so maybe come down on the Sat and head for Ireland Sunday or Monday. Either way, we'll be there on the Sat night for the BBQ.

Ace re the Sat even. For sure - 'the signed by all' 2010 banner is a must.

Been speaking to the organisers of the Convoy for Heroes today.

Our 'club', ie H4H 4x4 European Rally, stand will have a prime position spot immediately adjacent to the Convoy signing-on area.

We will have enough space for 12 or so vehicles on the stand itself (the stands and our camping area are seperate but not too far away).

We already have a quorum for our BBQ on the Saturday evening.

If you've not yet sent in your form to the Convoy organisers (not us) then we suggest you do so as soon as possible as we are told spaces are filling quickly

Tim, Rhiannon & I had a really good meeting at H4H 4x4 European Rally HQ today with the organisers of the Convoy for Heroes. It is clear that they are singing from the same hymn sheet as us and mutual cooperation is to the fore.

By way of example we are representing them at next week's Stafford Indoor 4x4 show and they will represent us at Peterborough.

Our 'stand' at the Convoy has the prime position and is larger then initially envisaged; so we will be asking many of you to 'display' your vehicles (LR and other marques. A PajEvo might even be there (by popular request)!!).

We will also have a our own camping area - hopefully you'll have all shown the rally as your 'club'.

The brill news is that the Guinness World Record has already been broken - if all those who have registered with the Convoy turn up. If you want to be part of the success of a GWR relating to an H4H cause - and haven't done so already - best get your application form in sooner rather than later.

Good on you Darren. We're 24 or 25 vehicles at the moment; you are not the only 'none LR' and my PajEvo will also be there. Mind you, we'd best not try and barge our way into the Convoy Ha.

i just received my pass today so i will see you all there on Saturday.
