A date for your diary. The Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally will be attending the Convoy for Heroes over the Easter weekend 2012. The 'result' of the 2011 World Record attempt is still awaited. Fuller details on 2012 in due course but some information has been provided to us, as follows;
The Convoy for Heroes 2012 will be taking place over the Easter weekend, Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th of April 2012, at Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire. (LE12 5SQ or 52.47.33N 01.08.30W)
Prestwold was chosen because it has the space for Convoy to grow as it should and because it has a dirty great runway in its back yard around which we can create a 6.1 kilometre track to run the Convoy.
Now that the venue has been sorted out we can get on with the serious business of creating an event to be proud of. And that is where you come in. A few things are in the pipeline already, such as a decent auto-jumble thanks to the generosity of Mark Woodward who organises the Newbury and Skipton auto-jumbles. And there looks like the possibility of an on-site off-road course for those that want to get down and dirty.
And that is only the start, next year we need to get the clubs in, so start nagging your club or forum Events Secretary to get something going. We raised over £14,000 in 2011 and see no reason why we shouldn’t raise £50,000 in 2012. But, we need you to get stuck in for that to happen.
And in case you were wondering, whether we get the Guinness World Record in 2011 or not, we will be having another go in 2012. Only this time, the target is 1,000 Land Rovers.
