Convoy for Heroes - Easter 2012

The Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally will again be attending the Convoy for Heroes 2012 event. It is a great opportunity for a reunion of the H4H 4x4 Rally Classes of 2010 and 2011 as well as a ‘get to know’ the Class of 2012

Convoy for Heroes 2012 has now opened for bookings. Numbers are limited so we suggest submission of your application form to the Convoy organisers (NOT us) as soon as possible.

Please put H4H 4x4 European Rally as your ‘club’ – this will ensure you’ll be allocated a slot with us.

The following is an extract from the Convoy website (www.convoy4heroes.org.uk) ;

CONVOY for HEROES will again take place over the Easter weekend next year – 7th and 8th of April 2012.

The actual Convoy will be run on Easter Sunday, April 8th.

The venue has changed to Prestwold Hall in Leicestershire, a much bigger location, to accommodate the growing number of people who want to attend

OK, only two weeks to go.

Who's going?

We should be there sometime on Friday, will be bringing the field kitchen for communial cooking etc... Sat evening ??

With a bit of luck I'll have a bit of a surprise lined up too

We'll be there sometime on Saturday - apart from our own food, is there anything specific (foodwise!) we can bring for others to share??

To be honest, if eveyone just brings their own food there will be more than enough.
At Stoneleigh last year there was a mountain of food left over !!!!

At the moment, we're planning on the communial cook for the Sat eve and maybe Sun breakfast - seemed to work well last time. No doubt we could be encouraged to fire it up Friday and Sunday too.

We will be there all weekend fron the Friday, I am stocked up on fuel....I wonder if the ballot for tanker drivers will turn to strike? A lot of fuel hungry landies would need replenishing.

I'm no scare monger, I just act upon what I see.

We'll be there. Arriving on the Friday, will have to leave Sunday evening as working Easter Monday.

Your ever helpful, friendly, courteous, understanding, sympathetic organisers will be there Friday pm and will leave after the Convoy on the Sunday.

If anyone coming to the convoy weekend lives anywhere near Tony Knott, we could do with Tony's large hot plate being picked up from Tony's and brought to the event and then returned again afterwards please.

All sorted Your ever helpful, friendly, courteous, understanding, sympathetic and considerate organisers will take a MASSIVE detour to pass by Tony's abode and collect/return the hotplate. We know how much you all enjoy Nick's cuisine - who would struggle without the hotplate. That fact that we also want to be fed is purely coincidental

Due to distance, we won't be there either. More likely relaxing in the hot tub drinking 1 of those 36 bottles of Les Mazette clarets one of our so kind hearted organisers has asked for (indirectly of course)

I would like to distance myself from the stories that certain marshals, who man secret controls have indicated that there position will be available in exchange for wine, it ^wasn't me.

Field kitchen is getting a service and wash down this weekend, just so you can all be eating from a nice clean cooking device - well for the first half hour anyway

We should be there sometime Friday and going home Monday, so can fire up the kitchen Fri/Sat/Sun eves and Sat/Sun/Mon mornings

Bring your own bugers etc... for the evenings and bacon/sausages etc... for the breakfasts, or in other words, if it can be burnt cooked on a hot, flat surface, bring it along. Don't forget bread rolls etc.. and any sauces you like.
Oh, and I'm always good at forgetting to bring cooking oil/spray, so if one or two of you can remember to bring some, that would be good!!!!!!!
We can also keep vegitarian food seperate on a different cooking surface and with different utensils, so no worries there either.
We do have ovens, but they take ages to roast or bake from cold, but good for keeping hot, or slow cooking.
