| Spent the weekend changing the hockey stick & trailing arm bushes, checking the bearings and fixing the boot floor and sills. Before... During... After! Sadly, just found out that despite not having rear seats fitted (had to chop through seat belt floor mounts late Saturday) it's failed on having a seat belt component missing. Apparently... new rules say that if any part of a seat belt is there... it all must be! Never mind... be sorted for next week. Skibum | |

| Good work there. Shame about the fail - but a small issue that can be easily sorted.
Why not just remove the rest of the rear seat belt assemblies. Especially if you don't intend re-fitting rear seats. You might also benefit (financially) from getting the RFL re-classified to commercial (LCV), instead of PLG.

| Thanks for the support guys... and offers... but it 'taint the seat belts that's the problem. It's the gubbins that hold them through the floor to the chassis (Whadya mean you've never looked under the floor?!). We had to destroy the old fittings getting the floor out... I've got most of it on order but it seems the key part (AWR2977 - Tie Rod), a bold with an eye on the end that links the underfloor bracket to the chassis is now obsolete! Just searched the web and got three results... all from South America! DOing the eBay thing now. If anyone has any... I'll buy them off you! As for changing use... don't want to do that. As an ACF instructor.. it comes in very handy having 7 seats! Kindest Skibum | |

| I have a Disco in Yorkshire you can come and cut them out for nothing. I'm out of the country at the moment, if you're still stuck I'll luck into chopping the bits out myself and sending down to you if you still need them. | |

| Thanks Chris, I'll bear that in mind. Trouble is... if it's of any age... chances are they'll be seized on like mine were.
I may have found 10 of them online cheap... might just buy them up and make a profit later!!

Skibum Bad news good news.... the 10 pins were cleavisa pins... not the tie rods I needed. However... found two of them... one in Stockport... the other in Barnstaple! Tell you what guys... if your replacing the rear floor... don't chop through them!

| As Nick says, why not remove the rest of the belt assembly for MOT purposes. Will you be using the seats before June?
When the time comes to need the seats again you could put the lot back in and stick it in for a pre-test, just to make sure they're safely in.

Yep, I think this would be the easiest way, I've MOT'd cars in the past before and received an advisory stating that only two seats and associated restraining mechanisms were fitted, thus covering the testers arse if I had decided to fit the rear seats in after the test.

| By removing the seats and seat belt mounts, you should be able to get the taxation class changed to LCV (Light Commercial Vehicle), which will be a lot cheaper per year in road tax. | |
