2012 - Allocation of Team numbers

All 2012 crews should have now received an email notifying them of their 'Team Number'. If you've not received yours........

Hi yes team Meerkat has had our number

Phew .................. who got No 40

not us we got 10

The 'special' No 40 ie for Honeymoon Couples, has not yet been allocated. As organisers we reserve the right to re-allocate a number already issed eg; No 16 could become No 40

Surely Nick, with such kind-hearted, caring and considerate organisers, you didn't think it was that easy to get out of the woods

Keith, I think the allocation of 40 is correct, it should go to the honeymoon couple, as it has done before.

Now as to Nick being allocated this number, well, may be not this time, I think he does intend taking the number at some time, just that he hasn't yet found the right partner !!!!

Alas Poor Richie we knew him well(ish)!!!!.As for the Marshaling on the Rally now where did i put my Tin Star,Ten Gallon Hat & Spurs Boy,Count me in if you need any help Keith....

Hi there Dee - John Lewis (disco) has the No 12 slot. Don't be gutted re not taking part this year;what you are doing re Mongolia is mega.

May a complete novice ask as to what is so special about No. 40?

Reasons for carrying jerry cans:

1. we supply others when their expansive tanks don't hold quite as much as the driver believes (jap jobs mostly).
2. we know the limitations of our own rather small fuel tanks, 110's excluded.
3. some of us have heard rumours of a recent scouting trip to Eygpt by one of our organisers......deserts don't have to many filling stations to the mile.
4. If organised properly, they can also supply a drip feed beer tank

Ah Car 40 - In 2010 Mr & Mrs Lyall were newly married (Lyall junior will surface in May this year) and were allocated the Car 40 slot ie the Honeymoon car

In 2011 Mr & Mrs Law were newly married and completely by chance (true) were allocated the Car 40 slot.

Thus a 'tradition' has started.

We've kept the 2012 Car 40 slot available in case of a late shot-gun wedding Ha. There is also a rumour (that Richie started ) that the holder of the 2012 Car 16 slot, and a veteran of 2010 & 2011, has this year has a deep yearning for the Car 40 number. As kindly and caring organisers, we are always prepared to be flexible and so at the stroke of the keypad we are ready and able to re-assign the 16 car to the 40 number.

When we were telling some of the family where the Mac is starting from (roughly - as we still don't know exactly) this year.
It only managed to add fuel to the fire ...............

Well I have now sourced a green machine to go along with that green oval badge called a , poor thing won't know what hit it, as it spent 6500 miles doing the byeways of London.

As for Car 40.....................been married 38 years this year, so noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo thanks, no more kids for us thank you very much, quite happy with the No.18 starting in the 12th spot!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! quite how 18 = 12 but no doubt there is some magic formular used to work these things out
