| We did just under 3,000 miles round trip from doorstep to doorstep and put £505 worth of fuel in the car which we were quite surprised at as we had a rough figure in mind of around £600. | |

More mods to come: Rear winch bumper with swing away wheel carriers Further extended reach shocks Full on board ruggedised pc
Oh yea, never, never, go anywhere, without the brew kit
Sorry if I've bored ya awl. Update: GKN overdrive removed (prior to the 2010 event) due to reliability "issues" Alpine head unit blown up when the alternator decided to through 18.5 volts around the place !!! Dig deep for a replacement!! Ruggedised pc now replaced by a Samsung netbook running Memory Map (1:50K and 1:25K OS maps) and Autopilot, along with a pc based trip computer. All of which pleased me by not missing a beat during the 2010 event. Jobs to do (most of which needs to be done before the Mac in March): Rear winch bumper still to be built Longer reach dampers Rear tub storage to be rebuilt for easier access to everything All standard seats to be replaced with bucket seats of some sort - more support and better use of space in the back. Fix the air con !!! Engine top end rebuild.

| Hmm, why don't all the jobs go as planned? And the list of things, not just on the truck, but everything else as well, seems to be getting longer, not shorter | |

| Well, it's happened, as some of you will be well aware. L200 NB ended up on a breakdown truck on Friday on the way to the H4H Convoy weekend. Fortunately, it was only a split water hose (only the most awkward one to get at round the back of the engine ) and was fixed quickly by the guys at The Mansfield Group just off J6 of the M6. Excellent service - called Green Flag at 12:50 and we wre back on the road by 14:50 and that included waiting 25 mins for them to pick us up from the hard shoulder. But .......... the overheating that happened as a result of the loss of water has done more damage - loads of bubbles in the header tank when we stopped at Knutsford services on the way back. Filled it up with more water and carried on home with no sign of overheating, but .... the bibbles in the header tank are a classic symptom of head gasket failure or possibly a cracked head - guess what I'm doing tomorrow ..... So yes, time for all you green oval boys to get your own back | |

| Sorry to hear the aftermath woes Nick; I'm certain the LR brigade will offer their upmost sympathy.
On the positive front - at least it's happened in the UK and before the start/during the rally.

| Sorry to hear about that Nick. Have you got the head on quick release fittings yet? Did they not pressure and sniff test it before sending you on your way? | |

| Ha ha - quick release - must look into that when I'm putting it back together. No - wasn't pressure or sniff tested. When we checked it the following day, the system was still under a slight pressure, which rang the alarm bell a bit, especially as it had pulled some fluid back from the header tank.
Hey ho - it's done over 100k, so it wouldn't hurt to open it up and have a look anyway. Also going to change every water hose now too - just incase. One's popped, so the others probably need changing anyway.
Frank - can I borrow some of your straight face mode please - ha ha.

| Got it stripped this afternoon - two obvious cracks in the head and two marks that look like they're probably cracks.
Good job I have an engine (out of a scrap truck) that had been rebuilt - head off that is nice and clean, been skimmed in the not to distant past, so that's off to be pressure tested in the morning and hopefully fitted straight away.
