Easter 2013 weekend - Reunion

All of you should have received an email from us today announcing the venue for our reunion/gathering over Easter 2013.

Please book direct with the campsite. Should be a great w/e - and not a tulip in sight!

Won't be camping but will certainly pop along to say hello

Your kind, helpful, considerate, modest and mischievous rally organisers have received a request from the Easter Reunion's Head Chef that we bring Tony Knott's BBQ hotplate for the w/e.

We have had a committee meeting and decided two things;

1. We will be gracious and bring the hotplate, as requested (we don't want to starve )

2. As it is a Holiday w/e we've also decided - as kindly people - to pay the Head Chef double time based on the usual rate we pay him for such occasions. (Nick - no need to thank us for this pleasant surprise! )

That's the early retirement out the window then ......

Seriously though, really looking forward to the weekend

Is there anything like a plan, itinery, schedule etc for the weekends activities.

I'd like to get down there for a few hours fri or sat but need some idea of who will be where so i know where to head for/avoid

I've heard there may be show tunes sung in one particular area.

Will the weekend still be going ahead

Have noticed the weather is ment to be getting worse again

Although cold, the forecast for the area doesn't involve any snow so yes the w/e will currently go ahead. Of course, some crews may have to pull out as they may have snow local to them; each team can make its own judgement on travel.

We do however recommend thermals

Friday is arrive day.
Sat - out laning if you want to - not sure what time, but 10 ish I would think.
Sat eve BBQ etc... and a few sherberts
Sun - chill day - laning if you want to

Not sure there's any real itinery, we'll make it up as we go no doubt !!!!

Please see the message below from Liz Barker who is co-ordinating our Easter Reunion. The message is self-explanatory. Of course we apologise in that some of what was planned - in particular some Green Lanes - may have to be modified. We, as an event, are ambassadors for 4x4s as well as for Help for Heroes. The adjustments to the w/e go some way to upholding that responsibility and we're sure you'll appreciate and support our reasoning.

The plus factor is that Nick Burt (Unit 16) will be attending and will bring his field kitchen. That should generate some warmth! If you have a gazebo or similar and have the space can you bring it along; we may have enough, but........!

Tim, Rhiannon & I thank Liz & Rob for all their time and effort on this; and whatever the weather, we're sure the w/e will be a success.


UPDATE: Routes are being frantically updated to ensure we avoid lanes that would not take any/many vehicles so i am afraid the lanning may be more of a meander thru some pretty Cotswold/country villages with a few viewpoints and watering holes to sample/explore - there is plenty to keep folk busy thou :-)
The bad news is that the campsite is struggling with clearing the snow and vehicles will not be allowed on the field if it does not improve quickly - Good news - tents are allowed :-) - it may be a short walk to your tent from the carpark but this should help stop the field becoming a mud bath - no bad thing I hear some 4x4 drivers saying but the campsite owner would appreciate a campsite for the rest of the season and not a mud pit (what comments are going to come in now :-) )

I'm off to wales (felin Bach, rhuddlan, conwy and harlech) next week and its apparently pretty bad there!

I would check them, main roads as in A55 all OK, and minor roads, but some of the lanes still closed, our postcode, CH5 4SX you will be 3 miles off us if you use the A55 from Chester end. 07985117277 if your about, we can save some of the snow if you want.


More snow forcast for the weekend, but main routes will be clear. Don't forget passport.

Cheeky question for Nick.
What time are you arriving on Friday? and will you be setting up the kitchen, or do I need to bring my own camping cooking gear, or better still, are we all going to a local pub that serves food in warm surroundings ?

We'll be there from sometime Friday morning/lunchtime. Kitchen can be in action for the evening, unless the general consensus is to evacuate to the pub!!
