| Hello all, we have just had our confirmation email so 'we're in' yippee Anyhoo, about us..... We are Ralph and Belinda and we will be driving a heavily modified Discovery. Belinda is a Nurse Manager at the local district hospital, is petrified of heights and has never driven abroad. Ralph is a sort of consultant thingy working in the offshore oil, gas and renewables industry, plays the guitar badly and doesn't realise it. We have been married for 27 years and have 3 daughters, 2 granddaughters and one grandson. We have strong military connections with Grandfathers, uncles, a father, brothers, a niece and nephew and son-in-law either serving or have served in each of the services. So this charity is close to our hearts. Our car has already undergone a big transformation into a fully equipped overland vehicle. It has driven through rivers and up mountains in the Uk and taken us to Marrakech and some of the way back (it's a long story ). We are just about to head off to the sahara in Tunisia in just over 2 weeks time. I have been publishing all the mods to the car on our website www.overland-rovers.com. We also have a gps tracker in the car so people can log on and track our progress if they want to. We're looking forward to meeting some more of you in the near future. | |

| Welcome aboard Ralph & Belinda; the Tunisia trip will be good shakedown for the Help for Heroes 4x4 European Rally 2011!. Most of the entrants to the H4H event have a weekend away as their prep! Hope all goes well and for sure we'll be monitoring your progress. | |

Only by internet conversation, we have yet to have the pleasure of a face-to-face. Based upon his avatar, this may be a good thing Thanks for the welcome, depending on how the Tunisia trip goes, we may wish that we had only done a weekend. Our last attempt at overland travel did not go too well ( Morocco 2009) | |

| Keith quick note I'll have to add another vehicle just to look after this one they will be as busy as we were! Well I hope not. Best laid plans and all that just goes to show how lucky we were on the 2010 trip. Glad to see you are still up for this trip and hope its a better adverture than the last trip. | |

| I think Raplh & Belinda had more probs on the one car than the 43 who took part in the whole of the rally; so a yep - Tony; we were very fortunate. Ta for adding the additional AA crew 'just in case' Ha Mind you, all of Ralph's probs have all been attended to now. | |

| It is with sadness that we have to let you all know that we are pulling out of the event this year. During our recent Sahara tour we had time to reflect on the amount of time we had spent preparing the vehicle and how little time we had spent with friends, family and at home. We have several plans for next year and entered this event thinking that we could fit it all in. Unfortunately we now realise that the amount of time we will have to commit to fund raising and vehicle prep will be too much. Because of the failed Morocco trip last year it seems as if we have been working on the car for 2 years preparing for this holiday. To do another driving trip so soon after is just not going to be enjoyable. As so we must bow out. For those that are interested a write up of our Tunisia trip can be found here. We did manage to raise some funds as a result of of a works sweepstake on our first breakdown and we have donated our £150 deposit/entry cheque to the fund. We wish you all every success and we will monitor your progress with interest. All the best Belinda & Ralph | |
