| I am about to go out and buy a fridge for the Landy, anyone got any good ideas or recommendations.
I am looking for something to keep a few tinnies and the bacon for that all essential early morning bacon butty, Needs to run off the Landy and big enough for three big lads who like their refreshments !

| Any travel fridge will kill your battery overnight unless you spend muchos muchos dinarii on an Engel. Waco/Dometic draw 4-8w, which will roger your average battery before the sun rises and your typical Halfords one will do the same.
To counter this, get something that has a mains lead as well as a ciggy socket lead, get some freezer gel packs in there too and get a euro campsite socket to UK mains adaptor and you're laughing. Or at least you will be on campsites that have mains hookups.

| I know Gaz - our man who knows and does and really does exist - is sorting out our power requirements with linked batteries, that recharge when on route - or some such wizardry. _ as you can tell I'm not very mechanical. I'm only along for the scenery Ha ha ha ha | |

| One Leisure battery (allows deep discharge / charge cycles) One voltage sensing relay 500a rated battery cable Couple of 90a fuses and holders Crimp connectors
= dual battery system. Typical leisure battery will be 80a capacity, so a Dometic/Waeco/halfords cooler working to keep beers at a sensible temperature will drain it in under 10 hours. It will then recharge the next day while you're driving, but using it like that on a regular basis will see even an Optima yellowtop die within the year.
Ive got that system in my car - spent a saturday morning scratching my head and googling to gather all the components together. Only thing I haven't done yet is put a circuit breaker across the Voltage Sensing Relay to give me instant jump starting from the Optima if the cranking battery dies.

| Cheers Alan - your a star. Having looked at this forum and seeing what my Jack has been doing to his Lanny it makes me want to get rid of my 2003 and buy an mid eighties model that I can work on myself, with a 200tdi. I wouldn't mind having a chat with you when we have a beer moment to discuss the best way forward. And anyone else who can help me make my mind up, Jack just holds his head in his hands in despair! I am saying really that I want to revert back to the simpler Lanny's. My first Lanny was in Saudi Arabia in the late 70's and I always loved that truck it was so simple to look after. And such a better looking vehicle. Anyways I am sure there is lots to talk about. Off camping this weekend to try out a few different combinations of field kit for our trip - you'd think we were all going on a 3 year global expedition through all 5 continents with Wigan thrown in. Hope you all have a great weekend lads, sun's up !!! | |

| Mine will be a great weekend - 4 weeks to go AND I just told Barclays I'll not be renewing our contract so I have a few weeks of looking for a new client or two to give me a fresh start when I get back from the rally. A weight off my shoulders I can tell you. | |
