| Hi folks - just signed up for the event and paid my deposit. Very excited and thankfully there's plenty of time to get sorted and raise a useful amount of money for what is a brilliant jolly with a sound purpose!
I'll be in my Defender 90 V8 - which at todays rates and a following wind will cost £380 to get to Bertchesgarten in fuel alone!!. A good friend Simon will also be signing up this week.
I've always wanted to do the WW2 sites pilgrimage since my teens. My wife's grandfather Sergeant Bruce Ogden-Smith DCM MM was one of the Commandos who spent four days off the French shoreline in an X20 micro sub in Jan 1944. They swam ashore to collect samples and survey the beaches which become known as Omaha, narrowly evading capture, recounted in a scene in the film The Longest Day.

| Cheers snow - you've probably spotted that I'ma green lane fanatic? The Wales vids and pics are all over the place - mainly west and middle on the latest Wales gig. All are on public roads and I sort of know my way around (should do after 20+yrs!). I'm out laning most weeks in one capacity or another - today I'm out in the little tank (Snowy the Series 1) locally for instance.
There's plenty of time and opportunity in the next 11 months to have a laning weekend/shakedown isn't there?
I would add I've pulled back a bit from organising stuff - hence the H4H Rally. But if someone does the admin, campsite booking and convening I can rustle up a few routes. | |
