| I know a lot of people swear by Memory Map, but they only have maps for France.
Does anyone know of any GPS Mapping software that covers Europe and will run on a laptop?
Looking for O/S type maps. Its so I can plot our journey on a laptop for a number of fundraising talks that I intend to do when we get back.

| Steve - If it helps, a few vehicles will be running with AVT Sentinel Tracking on board; for 'live' following on our/your/corporate sponsors websites (details in due course). I believe we will also get a subsequent download of the vehicles' journeys where the tracking is fitted; that, of course, will be available to you and all the other entrants.
AVT are at the Indoor 4x4 Show - Tim & I already have a meeting arranged with them there and will follow-up re above.
Take care. | |

| Europe is well covered by Tomtom and Mapsource. Tomtom being relatively cheap to run on a PDA or laptop. Mapsource is quite expensive, unless you use a Garmin - even then it's not cheap, but you pay for what you get. Problem I've found with Tomtom - more especially in Europe, is the time it takes to recalculate if you miss a turn and can be quite tempermantal on a PDA. Never really tried it on a laptop, but, it may be better due to not being a "light" version". A famous occaision was when leading a 12 car convoy, somehwere in the depths of Germany and Tomtom decided to have breather, just as I headed into a large, busy junction - had to take a guess, ended up doing a U turn in the middle of a construction site - you can imagine the comments that started coming across the CB Garmin/mapsource - been all over the place using a Streetpilot 2820 and it's never missed a beat - but I do spend out to keep both the firmware and mapping bang upto date. Unfortunately, no-one is as good as Memory Map for detail, and I don't suppose the Ordnance Survey are about to branch out into the whole of Europe just yet. | |

| Ive heard you can now print out the maps off your tom tom or sat nav and have them in paper form and read them!!! dont think it will take off though, some older people have problems reading the print outs without narration.....

| Already got TomTom with the European Maps.
I was just looking for more detail. Memory Map is great, but I really don't want to shell out about £150 for their European Maps what may be a one-time use
