| We are funding the rally 100% ourselves.Whatever we raise goes to H4H entirely. We wouldn't go if we couldn't afford to fund the fuel and living costs ourselves and would offer our place to someone else.We have a year to save up for this. This is for H4H and nothing else in my personal opinion. | |

| I must admit, in discussion with some friends over the weekend, it was suggested that getting sponsorship for fuel/running costs was a bit like getting a holiday paid for and that we entered to raise money for the charity, not to get a free trip out of it. Don't flame the messanger please ......... Personally, as I've said, I'm funding this out of my own pocket and giving the kids an educational trip into the bargain (their school has agreed to time off during term time on the grounds that it's not only educational, but for a great charity too), not to mention my own interest in WW2 history. But, I can understand that some of us aren't so fortunate, but still want to help raise money for H4H, so may need a bit of help to do it. I think, as long as everyone is open and honest about what they're doing and how they're doing it, especially with thier sponsors, then there shouldn't be any issues. | |

| i can see where they are coming from,
but like i said, its kinda the taking part and doing something like the event to show your support, ive giving money to h4h before now, but doing the event is taking my support a little further, i know i wont make it round europe without a struggle from the car breaking down a least 3/4 times!!! its gonna happen!! so its not gonna be a walk in the park taking part.
so in a way, if people are prepared and are aware they are sponsoring fuel etc, and i wouldnt ask them to but if they off 2/300 or 50 towards petrol knowing they are then i cant see a problem, even if i asked for that kinda sponsor from them, without some of that support from people, some teams wont be able to afford the rally, and i dont see why if it was a rule getting sponsorship for fuel should stop them going and raising money, which is the view of some people not all i know! just saying
people can turn around and say well just give your entry money to h4h and dont do the rally cause you cant afford it, but then you just another person giving money, i know i for one want to be able to say, i took my landrover round europe to raise money for h4h, its makes you feel more apart of charity
just my thoughts | |

| I'm with Harry on this one.
I could just give a couple of grand to H4H (if I had it to spare) and not take part in the rally.
But if I am up front with people and it's mainly businesses that I am asking to sponsor costs then i don't see the problem.
Where would premier league football and formula one be without corporate sponsorship?

| You could always do a Kimi and get out of the car 10 mins before the end and go for an ice cream | |

| I'm going for around £600 in fuel. I can get around 450 - 500 miles from a full tank.
We're going to be splitting the cost 50/50 between me and my co-driver.

| If I get a corporate sponsor to donate, 100% will go into the pot. I am funding this rally out of my own pocket. If i get parts or tyres etc donated the cost of them will also come out of my pocket into the pot. If I thought in the very 1st place I could not afford to do the rally I would not have put my name in. I am a family man without loads of cash or any savings as such but I am doing the rally and seeing it as our family holiday for 2010. It will be a once in a lifetime opportunity for me and I feel proud to be raising money for our lads. | |

I think, as has already been discussed in this thread, different teams have different ways of financing their entry into this event. The important thing is that however you fund your entry, Help for Heroes will benefit. That is the reason behind the whole event
