Tubbies get an upgrade

News on the Tubbies 110.
Asked the wife if I could spend a little on the 110 for this year. To my astonishment she said yes   But there was an ulterior motive wasn't there....oh yes she said but you'll have to sell the Disco first. oh well.
Still the list is growing.....New intercooler, new clutch, new drive shaft, new door seals, possible new turbo and a split charging system. If there's any left over new poly bushes. And a new air freshener. Ha that will show her    
All this on top of last years EGR valve, silicone hoses, steering guard, diff guards, light guards re powder coated, ladder re coated, new rear work light. Oh yes and a new wiper motor   
Would have been cheaper to by a new one.....more soon

Great to see the prep underway - and very pleased to hear the wiper motor is on the list; mind you, will it be needed? We're guaranteeing wall to wall sunshine this year   

Keith I hope so very much. I must say it was hard work in all that rain. Still. I have a spare motor now so if anyone needs one   

Update. Got the 110 back....work all done....bill paid....need a lie down.....  

Glad Bill has been paid - I've heard he's a great mechanic   

More importantly, great to hear the 110 is sorted and ready for the (off) road   

I did the 'mac' in a 110 last year. Its onl a 3 day event and it almost killed us. The most uncomfortable motor 'In the world'

WOW the upgrade has made a real difference to the torque. The old girl pulls like a train now. Just in time for the flooding too as I work on the Somerset levels.

To insult to injury I awoke this morning to find a small toddlers swimming pool that has replaced what was the rear seats of the 110. Door seals have perished. On closer inspection it seams like all four front door seals are virtually gone. Oh the joys of owning a Land Rover. I have now suggested to my local Land Rover specialist that I just send him to Barbados instead of paying his bill. Cheeky git is even thinking about it   I was thinking of selling her after the rally but I think I will keep as she has had virtually everything done you could imagine. Wife has said that's the next 10 birthday presents all spent

Oh dear it seems I neglected to tell the wife how much the bill for the 110 came to. Well she took off at some rate of knots....last seem over Vancouver....She will come down eventually but not for a while I hope...it's been quieter around here

Oh no....found a leak in the door seals, on further inspection I find rust on the floor pan on the passenger side. I have replaced both sides now and I will need new carpets too. If the wife finds out I am a dead man crawling lol what's next I wonder.......

No worries Ed; it's not rust - it is part of the LR Climate Control System.   And it won't leak when on the rally as it will be wall to wall sunshine 24/7!

Door seals all done now doing a paint job. I could do this all day if the thinners always smell this good   

HA HA I think I have fooled the rain gods at last. New coat of WAXOIL and rubber paint, yes rubber paint inside. I'm gonna float soon....Looking forward now to the Easter meet but if she breaks down now I'm taking up knitting....  

Now it's all sealed, have you considered that you may have reduced the air-flow used as part of the 110's Automatic Climate Control system.    Given the sun and warmth of 14th-28th June, as we journey through Europe, and as caring organisers, we wouldn't want to see the Techy Tubbies dehydrated too much
