After having spent only 3 days doing the mac4x4 in a defender i feel for you.

Never has there been a more inappropriate, uncomfortable vehicle for treasure hunting and touring.

Not wanting to put you off but I'm still smarting from the experience.

Now for some unusually helpful and honest advice from a marshal.

BUY A RANGE ROVER IMMEDIATELY.

Its not the vehicle its your body shape, you need to mature into the shape of the Landrover then its very comfy. It took us 3000 miles in 2011 to acheive this Very Happy

No matter what shape you are it doesn't help either the visibility or the permanent assault on the ears..
