| Hello all, One of my friends/person i volunteer with didn't take my advice and bought a Nissan Pathfinder rather than a Discovery! Now they have been recovered home, having owned it for just 5 months i have done some diagnostics and have found the issue to be the EGR valve - which is completely dead, like proper not doing anything! its a nissan pathfinder 2.5ltr 57 reg and the part number for the EGR is 14710EC00D Now 2 questions Can the EGR on a new nissan like this be blanked off? like we do on green ovals? - if so has anyone done it? or know of anyone with good nissan knowledge that could help me? Or does anyone have any good contacts with access to nissan parts? so i can buy a new one at a reasonable price? I'm a bit out of my depth looking at this car and all the plastic that surrounds the engine, just trying to do a friend a favour and we have a wealth of knowledge here that could help! if anyone can help or has any ideas please feel free to share - ideally positive replies! HAHA! Cheers guys and Gals - keep up the good work! | |

| Just remove it, and soak it in some solvent for as long as possible, old tooth brush, clean as best you can, make sure it then moves up and down, refit, all should be fine.
There is a chance, that you can remove it and blank, but, not sure on this model, that it won't pull up a fault code, and knock it into limp mode !!!
Clean and get it working like it should .

| Hi Dan, best advice would be to some solvent for as long as possible, old tooth brush, clean as best you can, make sure it then moves up and down, refit, attache a tow rope and tow it to the dump, remove wallet first then buy a Land rover. | |

| Car 5 is the first car to incur penalty points in the 2013 event (that is of course subject to his entry being approved by the committee). Reasons for penalty - 1. Deviation; the Nissan isn't in the rally 2. Winding up the organsiers | |

Thanks for your help everyone!
I've bought a blanking plate, the actual valve within the midule has completely busted, so it is useless, its not like a LR one, its some little tiny complex piece of rubbish! Have had several people look at it and all agree its FUBAR
so we'll see how we get on! Thanks again

| HAHA! Just an update for you all - the blanking plate did work, When i eventually got to inspect the EGR valve there is a rod which pushes up and down the plate which opens and closes the valve, the plate which is attached to the rod looks like its a cast unit, the plate had physically snapped off the top of the rod so it was useless! blanking plate needed a little "modification" but its all done now and working a treat! The car is only 4 years old and already having major issues that cause the car to be useless and would have cost £700+ to have repaired - nissans are rubbish! i'll stick with the green oval! | |

The ad should say you can drive a nissan - off the forecourt before it breaks down and costs you thousands of pounds - lets face it, you cant drive it on or off the road so the forecourt must be the only place it works!

| saw a Nissan drive slowly into a puddle, it had to be pulled out and piggy backed home on a yellow coloured machine. Dead engine and a very bent steering arm. Next vehicle into the puddle was a 1968 series 11A that hit the water at speed and drove out without the slightest difficulty. I won't mention who the driver was | |
