Leaky Land rover - Sods Law

Finally I feel like I am getting somewhere, after pulling an overnighter yesterday and getting the Disco running and did a 40 mile test run

Although when I woke up this morning I discovered a pool of oil under the rear diff - I think it is running down the prop shaft and dripping offf the diff . Looks like another all nighter !!!

At least when we get on the rally I will get a chance to catch up on my sleep

Its not really leaking..........Its marking its territory

Besides that, its not a proper Land Rover if it doesn't drip somekind of fluid!!

Mine still does it.........Even after spending a bl**dy fortune on it!!

mine's leaking too! im sure thy're just gettin nervous

Sorted out the leak and decided to take it out for a spin .

After about 40 mins the temperature gauge shot through the roof so managed to limp back home . Not looking good , oil in the coolant so my head is saying Head Gasket

So tomorrow it look like Tim and myself will spend tomorrow transferring across as much as we can into our back up TD5 Discovery.

Even with all this we cant wait to get started!!

Quicker to change the head gasket that swap over vehicles!! Imagine the points Keith will deduct at this late stage for a number plate swap

Deduct points! Deduct points! Would we? How cruel to suggest such a thing. That would be a double hit on a team already under pressure - that could be deemed unreasonable and might seem unfair.

Well its official , My disco 300 is out .

The compression test and gas test rule out head gasket
Drained coolant
Flushed radiator
Replaced coolant
Replaced water pump
Replaced Thermostat

AND IT STILL OVERHEATS !!!!

I am now at my wits end so I am going to have to admit defeat and bring the back up instead

More points deducted for Car 26. And, as there is a linkage, Car 45 will also have points deducted;
