Dear All,

Some of you have probably seen/heard the news regarding the E.Coli outbreak in Germany. Here is the official health protection agency page on the issue:-

Essentially whilst in Europe (Northern Germany particularly) we should avoid fresh salads particularly 'organic'.

Good and sensible advice there Matt.

Mind you, I'm allergic to 'organic' anyway; it always seems to be dearer that non-organic and it causes a problem with my wallet

I'm allergic to salads of any sort - always come out in a fit of hunger about 2 mins after eating one !!!!!

From what I heard on the radio today, some vegetables in Germany are a likely source, so it's something we need to keep an eye on.

Also, it's a particularly unusual strain that "sticks" to the intestine wall and is very much a mutated strain that hasn't been seen much before.

Clearly something we should be aware of, Rally or not, so I thought I'd put a few links to websites with useful info.

In the main it seems to be centred around salad vegetables that should be well washed and prepared in clean conditions.

That's my staple diet......... it is very worrying, maybe we will ratpack again this year! haha

Dont like the look of it at all from the news! fingers crossed the german authorities come up with something before the rally!

To be honest, I don't think it'll be much of an issue. Just make sure you practice good hygene when preparing food.

Don't think I'll be buying any salad in a cafe or restaurant though.

I'm just going to avoid salad full stop! :-p any excuse! This is just a good one!

Nicks right, the best plan is good hygene and washing of all veg and salads along with our own hand hygene.
