| all i will say don't sleep on the ground.... very uncomfortable, even with mats. going for bed next year. As for Tom Tom, we used it and it worked well. The tulips taking a little getting used to but you have to read the road book carefully as we spend a whole morning wondering why all the 'mileages' were out... it was in Kilometers. They can be crafty those Bowens!! | |

Allan and Simon used a roof tent for the Rally last year and had absolutely no problems with either vehicle or tent.

| When I last checked, our estemed organisers (well 1 of them) was in Eygpt, and here I was thinking we were only doing the European Rally..............thinks sand ladders might be needed as well as snow chains, and forget TomToms, you might want a sun dial and a compass for dead reckoning navigation. After 4 weeks of now a new one now sits on the drive, and guess what, its green and has a green oval thing badge on the front as well, powered by a T........ransit, and I know full well the AA can repair them, so thats the spanners thrown out saving weight | |

| In 2010,had both a roof tent and a 'normal' ground tent. Only used the roof tent 1 night. Found it good ,if you are moving on every day, but when staying at a site for 2 or more nights, roof tent was a pain as had to be packed up everytime you needed to move, whereas with a ground tent. you could leave it set up and stow things in it when you went off. will only be taking a ground tent for 2012 | |

| Ive got one of these, its very light weight..and those beedy eyed rallyiers I've not got the SUV thingy its on inthe link...I got a green oval truck and handles fine with it. but I will be taking a ground tent too...ive been told my new co-driver snores like hell!! http://www.everythingsuv.com/oasis_tents_main-esuv.aspI've used this at a number of shows and its reayy good. I'll be at Convy for Heroes in it, if you're there take a look. I take into account what Tony above me says and thought long and hard before getting this tent, but its up and down in about 30 secs. | |

I take into account what Tony above me says and thought long and hard before getting this tent, but its up and down in about 30 secs. I'm liking the look of that, roof and ground tent all in one. All our ground tents are Khyam of one sort or another - depending on use etc... Current "main" tent is a Wayfarer GT, and small "one nighter" is a discontinued model, but very similar to the Biker. Great tents and very quick and easy to set up and pack away. The only downside to the Wayfarer is it's weight, but for ease of use and space once it's up, it's great.
