| Granny suck eggs or not, Nick - the advice is great.
The support that Gareth & Stuart have been offered is amazing; and much from people who don't even them them. 10/10 to all who have offered.
Re the 'book'. Perhaps 2 parts (for sure there is enough to fill 2 books!);
1. 'The 101 saga' then, 2. 'Give us a Brake'

| Hey All, Stuart's wifey here, thought I would get in on the act and say I'm Stuarts agent, after all he signed his life away when he married me and to be honest with the hassall and drama I've gone through over the past 8 months since he signed up for the rally I deserve to make something out of it ... so any requests for appearances, books, merchandise etc through me please! and a quick update on the Disco - sump plug is out and so is all the water n crap, 3 buckets in all before the oil came out apparantly. Carpets are out and the sound proofing will be soon. Dehumidifer going ten to the dozen and everything behind the front seats is now dry! Stuart and Gareth are working a late shift on it tonight, along with a volunteer from our local 4x4 club so no doubt there'll be another update later tonight Managed to get a fab article in the local rag too - all PR is good PR or so they say | |

| It runs!!!
Fuel system now drained and a temp connection made to a jerry can of fresh fuel. Turbo pipes are disconnected to blow through the intercooler. Next job is to refill all the drained fluids from gearbox axles etc so wo can move it.
Even better news is that some of the electrical still work so we are making slow but steady progress.
Cheers

| A good couple of days this weekend. While I was tinkering with the engine yesterday, Stuart and Helen were out rattling tins. I'll let Stuart break the news on how much was collected but it was well worth it.
This morning we combined our efforts and the truck has now driven around the yard under it's own power. The next big hurdle is the visit of the insurance assessor...don't know what his attitude will be but we've done our best to ensure that he has no objections to it being kept on the road. (advice on the best "lines to take" would be well received as I've no real experience in thus area.)
Cheers

| The insurance assessor will base his assessment on total loss or not on rougly 75-80% of the market value of the vehicle.
It will depend on how much you are going to claim value wise.
If he writes it off, then you'll have to buy the vehicle back from the insurers, and possibly have it VOSA inspected and re-mot'd to prove road worthyness. In this case, a lot will depend on which category of write off he determines it to be.
If you're not going to make a claim, you may only need to prove road worhtyness with an MOT.
It really is going to depend on the assesment.

| A bit of an update from my half of the team. Insurance assessor coming out tomorrow. A good day collecting last Saturday where I recon we probably filled our cans to region of £1000 we will find out on Friday for definate after we have the cans counted by our auditor. Dumfries and Galloway has very harsh collecting rules. Sunday loads of work done on the car. Most of what is left is putting bits back together inside. We are amazed at how much stuff seams to be unaffected but we are waiting for it to bight us. This Saturday we are collecting on two fronts. My cadets are bag packing in Tesco Lockerbie and we are tin rattling at the doors of the main Tesco in Dumfries.
I would like to thank people for all the offers of help we have had. The good news is I think we raised our publicity by a notch by getting us featured on land rover owners website and three local papers.
