PostSubject: Snow Chains   Snow Chains EmptyFri Feb 26, 2010 6:59 am

OK - could be considered as a last minute panic .............. for the Mac next weekend !!!!!

I'm having problems finding snow chains to fit on my BFG MTs (265/70x16)
Any suggestions for suppliers etc......

Try not to whimper at the price..... For prolonged offroad in snow you need either the Kantenspur featured here, or the Pewag commercial chains for similar money. If it's moderate offroad then the RUD Classic Auto at £209 will be fine.

Ay up Nick

Check these out on EBAY. Not sure of the quality as they are very cheap, but they should fit, scroll down the listing for the sizes. Smile

Hi ya Shane ....

Hmmm .... tried a set of them and while they'll fit "standard 265/70x16, they wont fit ATs or MTs of that size.

I think these have the same problem. While the sizes quoted seem correct, the problem I'm finding is that none of them fit the ATs or MTs in that size - tread depth alters the overal diameter.

Hmmm, shouldn't be a problem? The diameter etc is measured including the tread depth, not the carcase size. Have fitted mine on ATs and winter tyres of the same size with no problems Either way, if you give the above people a bell they can go through it with you - they know their stuff. And avoid cheap ones if you are using them off road - a broken chain whipping through a brakeline or wrapping around a spring can really ruin your day.
