| My current policy on the defender is due for renewal next week.Currently its insured on the Land Rover Scheme underwritten by Sun Alliance Sun Alliance will not give cover for the rally Adrian Flux will not give cover for the rally Dazeleys no longer provide cover for 4x4's newer than 7 years old NFU wont give cover because I live on a boat !
Who do you all use. Any companies out there who will provide cover for an otherwise perfect risk Every policy I've ever seen excludes "rallies" What are you all doing about this? Idea's and advice welcomed

I will phone my chappy up tomorrow and ask. and I will txt ye his number etc..... He might get some more business... NFU are not insuring me for the rally. It aint the kinda thing I want to take a risk on, so if he can garuantee cover... I might renew with him before the rally itself. Skibum

| It's not a competition, so standard insurance should cover. | |

thats what im under the impression, also jack, i dont think most insurance companies cover offroading, ive got 4x4 insurance with flux and i dont think that covers me offroad but the insurance would be through the roof if it did!!

| Been in touch with my chappy at Adrian Flux and he says that as its NOT a Rally in the definition of the word then no need to mention it when yaking to the call takers.
If it had been called ....H4H European CHALLENGE then ther would be no probs. Anyways, from the ins company, NO NEED TO MENTION THE RALLY

Only if you need cover for true "off road". All standard insurance policies should cover green laning as you are not "off road", by definition, you are driving a public right of way, that has established vehicular rights and is more than likely a byway. I have this discussion from time to time on our L200 club forum and the term "off road" is often misinterpreted by too many, especially insurance companies. If you need cover for and off road centre for example, then that's different and not too many insurance companies will cover you without paying an excessive premium. What's covered, and more importantly, what's not covered, is a mine field and the insurance companies thrive on excluding everything they can, including "off road" use.

| Perhaps a comment from the organisers might be useful here – Our ‘rally’ is not a rally is the sense of a ‘race'. Some definitions of the word are here Definitions of rally on the Web: • beat up: gather; "drum up support" • a large gathering of people intended to arouse enthusiasm • call up: call to arms; of military personnel • the feat of mustering strength for a renewed effort; "he singled to start a rally in the 9th inning"; "he feared the rallying of their troops for a counterattack" • muster: gather or bring together; "muster the courage to do something"; "she rallied her intellect"; "Summon all your courage" • a marked recovery of strength or spirits during an illness • return to a former condition; "The jilted lover soon rallied and found new friends"; "The stock market rallied" • an automobile race run over public roads • tease: harass with persistent criticism or carping; "The children teased the new teacher"; "Don't ride me so hard over my failure"; "His fellow workers razzed him when he wore a jacket and tie" • (sports) an unbroken sequence of several successive strokes; "after a short rally Connors won the point" Bullet point 2 above covers our event – for sure it is NOT Bullet point 8
I’ve just had a meeting with Noel Dazeley’s office who confirm to me that your normal insurance will cover you. This is a charity touring event (inc visits to museums and points of historical interest) and speed does not enter the equation. Your route will be optional – you can go direct from campsite to campsite if you want! However, we have introduced some scenic and fun elements as part of the tour – which you may wish to engage/sight. Where the ‘off-road’ element is a ‘public road’ your normal insurance will cover you. Where the ‘off-road’ element is on private land you may be covered by some insurance policies but not others. Having stated the above in trying to be helpful, we as organisers must revert back to the fact that each entrant has the responsibility to ensure their own adequate and proper insurance. Hope the above is of some use.

| Noel Dazely (as mentioned in the sponsors section)
They will cover for Laning, Off-Roading, Driving in Europe etc.
Just mention that you are taking part in the H4H Raly and they will help you out. They're not bothered about modifications and including 2 named drivers on mine fully comp was almost £200 cheaper than I currently pay.
I know where I'll be getting my insurance from in December.
