Aka the van

Has arrived in the yard today. They gave me the keys to tease me then promptly had them back.
Apparently a top of the range Vauxhall Vivaro Sportive lwb crewcab isn't good enough for the rally.

It still has to be ply lined, have the bull bar and side steps fitted, have a reversing camera fitted as well as the headrest mounted dvds.

The guys at www.harpendenvans.com are really pushing the boat out for us.

The need for a van became apparent last year with all the discos stuffed to the brim with rally parafanalia, generators, marquees and god knows what else. I suggested that my neighbors at harpenden vans may let us borrow an old px van.

When i approached them they were well up for it, but didn't like the old px idea, no, we could have whatever new demonstrator they had at the time. What i didnt know at the time is that one of them is very interested in ww2 history and a was already a supporter of h4h.
As they dont have a demonstrator at the moment they're building one specially for us.

In return, can i ask that anyone in need of a new van (they specialise in vauxhall and citroen but can get most things) take a look at their website or pass it one to anyone who may be interested.
I know their prices on new vans are unbeatable and the vans will be supplied via your local main dealer so
location isnt a problem

They also do 2nd hand and they must be cheap as i've had 5 vehicles from them in the last year!

Having just finalised the logistics list of items we're able to 'off-load' to the van; we're simply amazed how on earth we carried the load in previous years!

The racking build started today. We now have a stowage area for 'long things' (marquees, banners, flags etc) under a false floor, a dedicated slot for pop up tents, a special area for stuff that that wont be needed often, and raised shelf for light stuff.

Then we had to take it all out again as the van's being ply lined Monday hopefully
So now Z6 is empty.
My T4 aka Z6b is full of all the rally stuff


My Vivaro aka Z6a is now providing temporary home to the shelving unit.

I offered to arrange ONE van. Currently we seem to have 3!

I may have provided the goalposts last year but this year its down to you 'orrible lot to come up with something new.

Goalposts are banned in 2013; as a seasonal sport, they've been replace by 'wickets' - and no -one has spotted them yet

Great job on the shelving - hope you didn't do that on overtime; £0 +50% per hour will snooker our budget

You will be glad to know that the mdf was liberated from one of my warehouses so cost nothing (or £10k depending on how you look at it)
As for our time, yes, usual overtime rate will be fine.

After spending 3 days doing mac4x4 in my 110 i know where id rather be for the next few weeks.....

Surprised you've got one with rear seats - be more room for kit without ??

That's what the boys wanted for their demonstrator, would be rude to argue.
'Dirty' kit will be going in the back, clean stuff in the rear seat area.
Gives us options should there be a need to carry passengers as it actually has 6 seats, perhaps if someone's vehicle fails like last year
