OK,
anyone got a clue about air suspension? other than its complete wate of time and a pain in the bum?
I have a leaky airbag which i identified yesterday, however the bag was still filling so car could be driven.
I now have a car which is sat flat on its bum, refusing to raise what so ever.
I have had the hose off the airbag and there is no air coming through, to check for leaks i had the other side off and still no air coming through, have checked the fuse whcih is fine, i have accessed the compressor - it doesnt appear to be working, i have checked all plugs and cables i can find, im now presuming its a dead compressor?
any ideas how difficult a job this is or where i can get a compressor next day delivery? local garage state 4-5 days! i dont have that!
So yea - im now rather unhappy - always last minute!

| Bummer mate....!
Tried Paddocks..? Usually have most things in stock and do overnight delivery... Give them a call and explain the situation... they might be able to pull out stops.

| I have no experience of the discovery system but if it's similar to the p38 system then it sounds if it has gone into limp home mode or something similar. I'm no expert but I have been told that there is a finite amount of time where you can fix a problem before the ecu realisesits there and shuts down the system. In this case it may have just caught up with the airbag fault. Do you have any error messages or lights on the dash? If this is the case then Quickest fix will be a trip to your local dealer to reset the thing once the airbag has been changed. I may well be completely off the mark here but obviously the airbag is the first fix required and then there may or may not be a further issue to be found. Longer term it may be worth looking at www.blackboxsolutions.com as they sell various gadgets including suspension resetting boxes (never used them only contemplating getting one for the rangy) Hope this is more help than hinderance Gareth | |

| One more thought, if there is a simple 2 wire feed directly on the compressor then split it to see if there is power at that point. Then connect a pair of jumper wires directly to the compressor to see if it turns over. This will then prove / disprove the compressor theory.

| What about trying Britpart. During the Mac they deliver same day !!! But, more importantly, understand the urgent sort of need you're in. | |

I'm going to get on to britpart now,
i've split the wires at the compressor end and connected it straight to the 12v, and nothing, so its deffinately a compressor, then 2 new airbags, (keep the good one as a spare) either that or i just buy a spring kit n throw the air suspn out!
I'll keep you posted, off today so headless chicken mode it is!

| That was going to be my suggestion. I know of people on their third and forth sets of air bags/ compressors. They got fed up and changed to springs. Funny but the problems dissapeared. Ive seen the conversion kits for £400 ish. You'll be looking £200 for the compressor I believe. | |

| I have a spare compressor (still attached to chassis but disconnected). You are welcome to take it off on saturday and use it. It was working before I changed to coils. Give me a ring if it would help.

| I had the same problem on my Disco. I replaced both airbags and job done no problems. I got mine from Keith Gotts a good supplier. | |

| Britpart don't have a good write up! Especially when it comes to air springs!
I have her booked in for Wednesday morning to go and have the air springs replaced (genuine dunlop parts) The compressor is kicking out fine - the airline going from the compressor to drivers side spring had rubbed through on the chassis so no air was getting to the bag, having fixed that i had the fairy liquid out to find that the drivers side spring has a leak in it,
SO hopefuly - big fingers crossed wednesday afternoon we should be fine! HOPEFULLY!
Cheers for your help people! cant wait to meet you all, i o a few of you a pint!

| It's a bummer, surely the japs can come up with a system to refill the washer bottle from rainwater collected from the gutters. Would really save us lifting the bonnet up the it would be truly very low maintenance | |

| Carl - My PajEvo has already got that system as part of the Evo advanced technology scheme. It works very well. Also to save weight (in addition to the the factory fitted light-weight bonnet) they've dispensed with having a bonnet opening mechanism as they've found it's never used. | |
