PostSubject: An update on team Army Landrovers    An update on team Army Landrovers EmptyThu Feb 17, 2011 7:08 pm

As it seems to be fashion at the minute I thought I would update you on our progress.

First may I say how envious I am of all of you that have your co drivers are around to help with the fundraising. At the minute Gareth is away on deployment so I'm the one holding down the fort on the fundraising side. The good news is 150 more letters went out this week (thank royal mail for inventing sticky backs stamps you don't have to lick). Some of the suppliers from my day job are starting to put prizes in for the raffle we are co organising with team Galloway. We are organising two evening events one a race/games night and another a swing dance. I have 4 newspapers coming along for interviews today so I hope the backup from them will help push the advertising revenue. Our progress on that can be seen at www.surplusandsafety.com/rally .

The good news is the ambulance will be finished the renovation and will get MOTed this week. Then off to the DVLA to get it registered. Then we have the job to get it stickered and seen around the area. Doing important road tests as we go. Then the baptism of fire will be the run to gaydon for convoy for heroes where I am looking forward to meeting to rest of the asylum.

Stuart

Hope the Mitsubishi drivers can cope pulling the 101 out if required it weighs a little more than your average green oval. I have been keeping quiet on this argument as I drive a l200 as a dependable every day car. Icon Landy

Ace stuff there Stuart - and all well mapped out. Brill cheers

I even like the 'confessional' at the end. bounce

I have little doubt a certain Nick or Richie might seek to add value to your comment 'dependable every day car' Fun

Your last statement says it all ...... and, should, in fact, answer the the first question. Icon Mitsu

Either there is no news in Dumfries and Galloway this week or the h4h rally is the biggest event to ever happen as I am on the front page of 2 local rags with a half page article in one a quarter page in the other. Loads of publicity all round.

We have produced and started to update a little information site adout our team. Have a look at www.surplusandsafety.com/rally . Its for our sponsors really so they can see how much of the truck space is filling up but ive found it good for directioning the press to as well. any suggestions for the sight would be greatfully received.

Our games night on the 14th May is coming along well and a swing dance night in one of the big venues is on the cards as well after a good meating with them last night.

Going to an auto jumble tomorrow to get rid of some clutter from the workshop and also put some coffers in the tin.

also forgot the first of our collecting tins has gone out in the local landrover parts shop.

Great stuff there Stuart re your fundraisingplans.

Also like the web site - one thing no one can argue with; there is plenty of space on the 101 to advertise your sponsors!! That is some machine.

I'm being causiously optimistic about your figures. The army says it should do more than that and we know that the army doesn't lie. That fact, LPG and a willingness to put my fingers in my ears and go "la la la" will get me through.

Higher transfer gears will help either that or an overdrive. You can use a bowden cable(same as your high low cable one for the winch would do the job)

Things have been moving on "at pace" this week. We have a collecting day at a motorbike rally on 3rd April. Convoy for heroes. A games night on the 14th May. A swing dance on 20th may. a collecting day 28th May in Dumfries High Street. Collecting in Lockerbie Tesco 4th of June. A collecting day at the preview day for the Scottish Rally 11th June.

And of course we are going over to help out our friends at team Galloway this Friday at their dance.

All that and the ambulance isn't back from the garage yet. Shiney new carbs on it though Rolling Eyes

The luck might have changed today. The 101 has finally passed the MOT.... Now to see how much fuel it really drinks.

Ha - Having read your post about the Reg No, I copied and pasted it into all the various spreadsheets: Signing On, Brittany, DFDS Seaways and all the campsite and other locations.

Having now read your second post re the amended No you can guess what my next job is Ha

Worry not; I'll get my own back during the rally; and probably every day; albeit, as will no doubt be confirmed by the Class of 2010, I'm not a person to hold a grudge Rolling Eyes

Stuart - that's really great news; and great that the 'plan' (?) (I assume there is a 'plan'!) is coming together and another kilometer-stone has been passed. Good work guys + more pennies in the pot sunny
