Hi Rob - Last year, as organisers, we made it public we were going to stop for a 'quiet' (!) 2 nights R&R on the Moselle. We asked if anyone wanted to join us. We ended up with 90% of the rally entourage staying with us!!!

To make things easier, we then made 'corporate' arrangements and blocked booked. We will probably do the same again in 2011 if the demand is there. Of course, this is outside of the rally arrangements.

We'll start the Q process very soon and be able to provide a rough idea re the extra cost involved for the Moselle camping.

Hope this helps.

Rob,

Some of us only stayed one night at the campsite (between uncaring partying campers right next to our tent - some kind of rally I think... Shocked Rolling Eyes Very Happy & the all night trains crossing a sound box of a bridge... t'was a bit noisy!)

We drove on up to Maastricht in Holland and stayed the night there. Not the most picturesque of locales but it left only about 100 miles to do on the last day's run to the ferry.

Worth remembering that by that time you'll have done a good chunk of 2500 miles... a short run on the lasst day might be useful.

T'was certainly a good site. Once you had drunk enough of the local brew, you didn't even notice the trains Rolling Eyes

Top notch cake shop in the village as well. Smile

Watch this space - well not continually. I'm just back from Kazakhstan so not yet into 'rally mode' Ha.

We'll start sorting the Moselle in the next couple of weeks and then ask all the rally entrants if they want to be inc in the R&R or be independent for the home run.

Got to agree with Nick on this. Your walk was not a short stumble.

So, do you have any recollection of the long stumble home? drunken

Can't comment on the food. When we got into there, we found that 'others' had beaten us and eat all the steaks !!
So advice to Team 2011-- get to the restaurant before the AA and the Organisers Laughing Laughing

Trust me Tony; had you been ahead of us you would have enjoyed the food! pirat

Of course, as the Moselle R&R wasn't part of the rally, our usual caring, sharing, encouraging and supporting philosophy to the entrants' welfare went out of the window! Rolling Eyes It was every man for himself by that time Ha. alien
